Sara and Gina web

Thanks to Sara and her friend Gina for inviting me to a concert at the beautiful new Weber Music Hall at UMD tonight.  Every semester the students in the music programs have an end of term concert.  I attended a good number of them when I was a student at UMD in the early 1980s.  Tonight we enjoyed performances by the UMD Symphony Orchestra, the UMD Wind Ensemble (in which Gina is a clarinetist), the Concert Chorale, the Chamber Singers and the absolutely awesome University Singers.  The evening had a festive holiday theme; the grand finale included an Audience Sing-along to seven Christmas carols and what made it even better, with that hall full of all the choral singers, you could blast your lungs and no one would even hear you.  It was a lot of fun!

If you have the time and the notion, there are a few more concerts this month.  The Winter Jazz Concert is on Wednesday December 6th, the Vocal Jazz Concert is Friday December 8th, a Homage to Mozart on Saturday December 9th and Opera Scenes on Thursday December 14th, all at 7:30 p.m..  And the tickets are only $6.00 !!
