Dad had this homemade gizmo that had a tube you blew into and it would make this little fan spin around.  The adults had many a laugh over this device and it's little secret.  You see, the tube had an inner tube and if you didn't put your tongue over the inner tube when you blew, you would blow soot from the belly of this device into your unsuspecting eyes. 

After a night of laughs, they put the Lung Tester up on a shelf.  Early the next morning, before Mom and Dad were awake, young Alan climbed up and got the Lung Tester and started blowing on it.  He shared it with Janie too.  I don't think Alan started crying until everyone started laughing at him upon discovery of what they had done.  Janie looks concerned but who knows what she was thinking, looking at Alan's black eyes!
